Batteries & Power Management
RaceHUB and RaceTIME are designed to be as energy efficient as possible and we are constantly seeking ways to make the apps even more efficient.
Due to the extended duration of Pedal Prix events, and depending on your device’s battery capacity and settings, you will likely need an external power source for your devices running RaceHUB and RaceTIME.
RaceTIME
For shorter, 6/8 hour races and training sessions, our testing has found that a single 5,000mAh or greater power bank is usually sufficient. We strongly recommend having a fully charged power bank on hand.
For longer duration races, because most iPhones will drain the power bank quicker than the power bank can be recharged, having at least three power banks is essential, swapping and recharging as required.
How do I know if I need to swap the phone running RaceTIME's battery?
Team Managers can view the percentage of remaining battery life in the iPhones of each of their trikes in RaceHUB. If you start the race with a fully charged iPhone, it will display 100%.
When the RaceHUB shows the iPhone’s battery has dropped below 100%, it means the power bank is no longer supplying power, likely because it is flat. You should then swap the power bank with a fully charged one during your next pit stop.
As a precaution, we recommending swapping the power banks before they are flat.

Teams usually don’t need to plug these devices into power during shorter races, however this depends on a number of factors including the battery capacity of the device and if it is powering any external displays.
During longer events, you will need to power your devices running RaceHUB, just as you need to power your pit’s lights.
