Lapping and Pitting
RaceHUB automatically records laps, allowing you to view and analyse telemetry data, and autonomously detects pit stops, changing to the next rider in your roster. These features work by using a radius generated at specific start line and pit locations through RaceTIME.
If you have a pit stop without a rider change, you can easily swipe to delete the pit stop and it will not change the rider (see below for more information).
Setting up Auto Lap and Auto Pit
Auto Lap and Auto Pit can be set up in RaceTIME for each of your teams.
- Navigate to the Settings menu in RaceTIME
- Log in to the Team Managers Account
- Select the trike associated with the iPhone using the menu
- Walk to the middle of the track where you want to set the lap and pit position
- Press Set Start Line, then press confirm
- Walk to the spot where you will perform your pit stops (i.e. where the trike will stop)
- Press Set Pit Location, then press and confirm
Note: You can have seperate start lines and pit locations. This is necessary at some races such as Loxton where the pit lane is not on the race track.
Further, if your team has a large number of pits allocated, you may need to increase the Lap/Pit Sensitivity due to the large area where your pit stops could take place.
Deleting Laps and Pit Stops
If you are logged into RaceHUB with the Team Manager’s account, you can delete laps and pit stops by swiping on the lap/pit stop with your finger or cursor and clicking the confirmation message (as demoed with RaceHUB’s iPad app).
Note: Deleting laps and pit stops is irreversible. They cannot be recovered once deleted.
What happens if we have a pit stop but don't change the rider?
There are often instances where a trike returns to the pit but the rider doesn’t change, such as to replace a flat tyre or in the event of a race stoppage.
This will still trigger a pit stop in RaceHUB, changing the rider. Simply swipe on the pit stop with your finger or cursor to delete the pit stop, as explained above.
Deleting the pit stop will automatically revert any laps after the deleted pit stop to the previous rider, and will update the riding time (TIB), number of laps, and other rider metrics in RaceHUB and in the trike on RaceTIME.
Manual Mode
In rare circumstances, teams may wish to manually trigger laps and pit stops. This can be done by activating Manual Mode in RaceHUB’s settings menu, which will display Lap and Pit for each team.
Teams will continue to automatically lap and pit unless Auto Lap and Auto Pit are turned off in RaceHUB’s settings menu.
Currently, Manual Mode requires both the device running RaceHUB and the iPhone running RaceTIME to have a working internet connection. We are developing a Full Manual Mode which will allow for lap timing and roster functionality in areas where a working internet connection is not available, such as the Mount Gambier race of the Australian HPV Super Series, to be released in time for this event.
